Residential Treatment for Sexual Behavior Problems For Adults in Minnesota

Steps For Change – Adult Residential (SFC-AR) is a non-secure 7 bed community based residential facility in Minneapolis, Minnesota that provides treatment to justice involved adult males who have engaged in illegal sexual behaviors who are in need of a higher level of treatment intensity.

Who We Treat

SFC-AR’s target population includes:

  • Level 3’s/Required to register as a predatory offender
  • Individuals with significant antisocial behavior patterns and criminal histories
  • Deviant sexual interests
  • Exhibiting sexually compulsive behaviors
  • Adults who committed the offense as a juvenile
  • Neurodiverse
  • Have mild cognitive impairments

Exclusionary Criteria

  • Actively suicidal and in need of psychiatric care
  • Actively psychotic and in need of psychiatric stabilization first
  • Actively abusing substances and need substance use treatment first
  • Serious flight risk
  • Recent history of absconding from residential placement(s), case by case basis
  • A level of sexual compulsivity/sexual aggression or physical aggression towards staff, residents, or others in the community that creates an immediate risk

  • Daily Group Therapy, Monday-Friday (12 hours per week)
  • Weekly Individual Therapy
  • Weekly Psychoeducational/Skills Group
  • Family and couples therapy as needed
  • 30-day assessments
  • Individualized treatment
  • Daily meals and snacks
  • Housing
  • Bed and storage for clothing
  • Recreational activities
